Make a Die Cut Layer Cake for Celebration Cards

Let's talk about cake, shall we? (Yes, please!) Cakes whether stamped or die-cut are so practical and fun for many types of handmade cards. Today's project is an elegant but colorful cake card that would be perfect for a birthday, anniversary or any type of celebration.  And because I just couldn't stop, I made a sweet coordinating gift tag to match. Shall we take a closer look?

For today's card, I used Spellbinders' Celebrate With Cake die set. Don't have this die set? Create something similar with what you have, or shop for a new favorite - I've linked some other similar products at the end of this post! I love the sweet flowers and leaves with the stitched accents that came in this die set, but if the dies you're using don't include flowers, look for small flower dies in other sets and mix and match!

To make the coordinating tag, I used some of the same flowers plus a die cut sentiment. Once you have the paper and supplies out, think about how you might make one more quick and easy project to coordinate with your card. It was so much fun to die cut a bunch of little leaf and flower elements, and then mix and match and put them together on the tag. Isn't it a fun floral scene? A tag like this will go perfectly with a treat box or goodie bag for sending home party favors, small gifts, a slice of cake, or leftovers from a party!
I'm so sad that the Celebrate with Cake Die Set is no longer available, but here are some super cute alternatives that would work perfectly - or get creative, and put this fresh colorful spin on a die set you already have!

love using the Magic Mat with my die cutting machine, because it alleviates those pesky cutting lines on the underneath side of die cut shapes. You know, the ones from your best used cutting plates?

I'm so grateful you've stopped by today. I've had so many new friends hanging out here lately, and I'm loving it! I'd love to get to know you - leave a comment and let me know what your favorite types of projects are, and if there's something you'd like to see more of here on my blog.
