FSJ + Spellbinders Hello Summer Blog Hop

Do you love the starry nights of summertime? I'm just returning home from a vacation in the mountains where we enjoyed huge starry skies, fireflies, and fireworks. Perfect summertime magic, if you ask me.

It's great timing as I welcome the Starry Night collection from Fun Stampers Journey, along with some amazing designers, as part of the FSJ + Spellbinders Hello Summer Blog Hop

If you're starting here, head to the Spellbinders blog so you don't miss a thing!
If you've been hopping along the way, you should be arriving here from Nicol Spohr

Let's look at three cards that feature different ways to use the Space Galaxy background stamp, one of the new stamps from the Starry Night collection.

(This post contains affiliate links - when you shop through my links, I may receive a compensation at no cost to you - thank you from the bottom of my crafty heart!)

There's not much better than simple silver embossing on black cardstock. It always looks striking, and this card is no exception. To recreate this look, emboss the Space Galaxy background stamp onto black cardstock. Stamp and emboss the rocket ship in black onto silver cardstock. A vellum die-cut star makes an accent to highlight the sentiment without losing the fun background focus.

Add the panel onto a teal card base, and affix a few bright enamel dots to give this card the finishing POP it needs. (I'm always ALL about a POP of color!)

To create the look on the next card, emboss the Space Galaxy stamp onto white cardstock with white embossing powder. Then, sponge Liquid Colors (liquid dye ink) over the top. (I used Sweet Pear, Cool Pool, and Pretty Amethyst.) The embossing will resist the watercolor - Such a fun technique!

And to create the third look, sponge Cool Pool Liquid Color across a damp panel of watercolor paper. Then, stamp the Space Galaxy stamp with Catalina Splash Liquid Color - stamping it with liquid dye ink, right onto the damp watercolor paper allows the color to blend and spread just a little bit, giving the image a dreamy space look.

As a Concept Designer at FSJ, it's so exciting to prepare for these new collections as we develop the products and create for the catalogs and launch parties - and it's so satisfying to finally be able to share it all with you!

To celebrate this release, we are giving away a $50 gift certificate to one lucky blog reader – selected from the comments across all of the blogs in the hop.

Leave me a comment and let me know what your favorite new product is!  Giveaway closes on Monday, July 1st, 11:59 pm EDT. Winners will be announced in the blog hop post next Tuesday.
