Happy summertime, my crafty friends. After a few days out in the sunshine with my family, it feels like the perfect time for some SWEET SUMMER cardmaking ideas. I absolutely fell in love with this stamp set, called Good Old Summertime, from Impression Obsession. It is filled with darling little summer images like ice cream, fresh fruit and cold drinks. Today I'll show you a way to use lots of small stamped images on a card that's perfect for those summertime vibes.

Sometimes it's hard to know how to use small stamped images on a card but I have a fun idea, using a great die set for the background. The Scalloped Nine-Patch die set makes this great frame to highlight the small summer stamps. I die-cut the dies twice, once in white cardstock and then in aqua cardstock. Here's a TIP when working with a die that has lots of pieces: To make it easier to work with, I glued the pieces onto a piece of scrap paper and then adhered it to my card. (See below) That way I can lay the card out and try different ideas, without having 11 different pieces to line up and move around.
Stamping, coloring, and trimming all of these small images was fun! I made quite a lot of them so I could decide what I wanted to use. And since I already cut out two of the frame dies, I ended up making two cards, mixing and matching the dies and the stamped images. It's always easier to make two coordinating cards while you have the supplies out and ready.Today is Old is New Day at Impression Obsession, where we celebrate the best loved oldies-but-goodies in our stamp stash that need a little inky playtime. This die set is fairly new, but Good Old Summertime is not as new, although it was new to ME - which made it extra fun to play with!
