Okay all you slimline card making cuties! I have BIG news for you! Impression Obsession has a brand new collection of slimline stamps, called Slim Scenes, and they're just in time for holiday card making. For the next two days, the IO designers will be sharing inspiration with these new stamps and we've got LOTS of slimline sweetness to share!

Are you new to the slimline trend? Here's the basics:- A slimline card is simply a long skinny card.
- There doesn't seem to be one OFFICIAL size, but the point is to fit the card in a standard business sized envelope.
- I make my slimline cards 8.5x3.5 because the width of my cardstock is the length of the card so trimming is simple, with just one cut across the cardstock at 7 inches.
- You don't need special supplies to make a slimline card, but many companies are creating special products to fit this fun new size.
- You can still use these stamps on regular sized cards too, and there are lots of creative possibilities.
Alright, let's get to it. On today's first card, I used the Snowy Night stamp paired with the Sketched Trees stamp. I absolutely love all these funky little trees, and it was the first stamp I knew I HAD to have from this collection!
To create this card, stamp the background first. It's important to note: You will probably need a stamping tool like a MISTI for these stamps. So far, I haven't seen a clear block large enough for these 8.25-inch long stamps. Using a stamping platform makes it so much easier to use large stamps anyway because you can stamp, re-ink and stamp again to get a really rich and complete stamped image.
Here's the coolest thing about the Snowy Night stamp: since there's no bottom edge of this stamp, it means you can make that snowy ground as thin or as deep as you want, as you'll see on the next card. For this card, I decided to make a tall skinny card. I used the same two stamps for this card even though it has a totally different look. And here you can see, I made a BIG snowy hill which almost looks more like a mountain instead of on the last card that looked like a snowy field.
The IO designers are celebrating the Slim Scenes release with a two-day blog hop. Each day you'll find a list of participants on the Impression Obsession blog, and right here:Laura Williams >>>you are here!
