Look at these Beautiful Layered Geometric Glimmer Plates and Stencils {Spellbinders}

Can I be totally honest with you about hot foiling?
It hasn't been my favorite thing to explore. A new process, a new learning curve, different supplies. It felt a bit temperamental, and I wasn't sure I had (have?) the patience for it.
BUT . . .  (you knew there was a but coming, right?)
Hot foiling, like Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil System, is so beautiful. I've slowly found my groove with foiling, and I really like making simple patterned backgrounds with Glimmer plates. Today's cards feature some hot foil plates that create a background, and have coordinating stencils to add color to the pattern. Super cool, and limitless possibilities. And BONUS: these supplies are on clearance in the Spellbinders shop, so it's definitely time to grab them before they're gone!

All three of today's cards follow the same basic instructions, so let me give you the run-down. These three cards each feature a different pattern from the Layered Geometric collection: Flower, Diamond, and Optical. Begin by foiling the background pattern. Then, use the layered stencils to help you fill in color to your pattern. This makes it so simple to add color quickly and easily, while allowing the shapes that make up the pattern to really shine.  (I used Distress Inks and Blending Brushes to ink the images.)
To finish off each of these cards, I used the Be Bold Glimmer Sentiments set - I love this set because it includes simple sentiments in a really easy to read font. It foils beautifully, and it includes coordinating dies to cut them out.
There are helpful resources on the Spellbinders website, if you're exploring hot foiling, or want to polish your skills.
