Check Out My Favorite Mermaid Stamps for Easy Cardmaking

There's something so magical about mermaids, isn't there? They're so sweet and fun for summer cards and crafts, and I am in love with sweet Mermaid Julie from Impression Obsession. She's one of many darling mermaid stamps that are available individually from IO - so you can pick out one or many of your favorites and create beautiful mermaid papercrafted projects with these rubber stamps. The thing I love best about these mermaids is the size of the rubber stamp. One stamp, plus a sentiment and my card doesn't need anything else. They fill the space so nicely!

For this handmade card, I started with the Watercolor Lines background stamp. It has amazing watercolor texture so it really looks like watercolor stripes were painted across a canvas background. I stamped the top half with a lighter aqua (FSJ Turbo Teal) and the bottom half I stamped with a darker color (FSJ Blue Lagoon.)

I colored Mermaid Julie with watercolor pencils and added a little bit of dimensional glaze and glitter so she'd really sparkle and shine (just as a mermaid should!)

I am pretty sure Julie is lonesome in my small collection of mermaids - she's the only one so far.

I think next on my wish list is Martha Mermaid (I love her little octopus friend!)

And then there's Mermaid Jessi and her giant hibiscus - swoon!

But oh DANG, now that I'm looking, check out Mermaid Beeski - she is exquisite!!!!

This post is part of Old Is New Day over on the Impression Obsession blog. It's easy (and fun) to keep adding the latest and greatest stamps and dies, but let's not forget about the older and well-loved products too - like sweet little Mermaid Julie, and all her beautiful mermaid friends!

And now my crafty friends, head to the Impression Obsession blog to find a link list of the designers participating in Old Is New! I'm sure they have some fabulous oldies-but-goodies to share with you!

PS. There's still time to get in an entry for the I'll Drink to That challenge on the IO blog. Check out this post with the rules, and a place to link up your project. There's a $25 gift certificate for a lucky participant!

Wonderful coloring of the mermaid image. Great background to show it off too.
