How to Make a Simple Floral Birthday Card Set {New from Impression Obsession}

Hello, my dear crafty friends! Welcome to the third and final day of the Impression Obsession blog hop. We've been celebrating the fabulous summer stamps that are in the shop NOW. This collection also contains some amazing sentiments that say JUST the perfect thing, plus some floral images that you will use ALL year long. Today we'll take a look at two floral stamp sets and a birthday set that I am absolutely in love with (Proof: I've made about precisely 6,947 million cards with them already.)

First, let's talk about this card set. I love to make card sets for a couple of reasons:

  • Card sets make great handmade gifts for teachers, friends, coworkers, and family members.
  • If I already have the supplies out, it's usually pretty easy to make a few of the same card.
  • I always need a stash of birthday cards on hand, and it feels good to have a whole stack of them ready to go.
Usually when I make a card set, I create a card and it just comes together so easily that I think "Oooh, I could make a bunch of these easily!" And that, my friends, is exactly what happened with this card.

To create this card, here's what you'll need to do:

  • Begin with colorful card bases and a light color of cardstock trimmed to 4x5.25 panels.
  • Stamp the Happy Birthday block onto white cardstock and trim. (Stamp however many cards you plan to make.)
  • Lay the Happy Birthday block onto the cardstock panel to get an idea of placement and space. Then grab a bunch of floral images. and start stamping around the edges of where the sentiment will go.
  • Then, adhere the sentiment right on top. Use foam tape if you'd like, or a flat adhesive, especially if you plan to mail them.
  • Add a length of washi tape and some enamel dots to finish off the card.

In the photos below you can see a few different versions. I tried this in a horizontal format, and thanks to a little wonky stamping, I made an off-centered one too. Even though the flowers are just stamped in black and not colored, the bright cardstock colors and enamel dots give these cards a festive colorful feel. All of these would look great together given as a gift.
If you don't have these particular stamps, think about what floral stamps you have that could work with this idea. I wonder how you could give this layout your own special spin?! Friends, it's been so much fun hanging out with you this week - I hope you are LOVING this release as much as I am. If you haven't checked it out yet, you can find all of the new products HERE on the Impression Obsession website.

  1. I like making sets as well, frequently doing them for silent auctions. I recently did a basket of 12 cards all with dog themes for the Humane Society auction, before the lockdown.

  4. These are so colorful and happy! Thanks for sharing! I've begun making several at a time, since the invention of the MISTI - it's so much easier to stamp several panels at once than it is to drag everything back out in a few days. Love your cards!
