Try This Simple Red, White + Blue Summertime Card

Hey there crafty friends! I hope you had a great 4th of July. Is it too late for me to sneak in one more card in RED WHITE AND BLUE? I have had fun making festive, patriotic handmade cards this season, so I'll link a few others at the end of this post if you've missed them.

Today's blog post is part of Die Cut Obsession Day on the Impression Obsession blog, and I've got a sweet and simple card idea that you can easily customize for any occasion. Ready to take a look?

I used the Stars die set which takes plain old STARS to the next level. One die creates a star with tiny star cut outs, (TIP: use those tiny stars as extra details!) Plus, the star outlines can mix and match.

I die cut stars from two shades of blue. Using multiple shades of red or blue is a simple way to expand your color palette, while maintaining a patriotic feel. Now, take a look at this card, but picture the stars in a rainbow of colors - depending on the colors and sentiments you use, you could easily take this idea and make it a birthday card, a summer hello card, or so much more. Die cut a bunch of stars, and then make up a whole stack of cards at once!
I hope you had a fun and festive 4th of July weekend! Be sure to head to the IO blog and find a list of all the designers participating in Die Cut Obsession day.  Thanks so much for stopping by!

Say Thanks With Patriotic Cards for Our Heroes {Plus a Big SALE}

A few weeks ago I shared some patriotic cards for Memorial Day, and I had so much fun with them I started crafting up some more.  Today's cards are perfect to send to a military hero who's far from home, or to say thank you to a veteran for their service. Ready to take a look at today's patriotic thank you cards?

There's something appealing about making simple cards in red, white and blue - the color scheme is already chosen for me, so it's just a matter of choosing some appropriate stamps and simple die-cut shapes to pull them together. The Old Glory stamp set from Fun Stampers Journey has long been a favorite of mine, and you can grab it on clearance if you don't have it!

Today's projects feature two different card ideas with Old Glory, plus a great little sentiment set and simple die-cut stars. The bonus? Almost everything I used today is on SALE...but more on that later.
 There are some really great stamps in the Old Glory Set and two of them are border stamps.  In the first card above, you'll see I used both of the borders - the starry stripes and the striped stripes (is that a thing?) Don't you love the distressed look of these images? It's such a fun detail to the stamps.
On the next card, I used the striped border again. Along with the stripes, I stamped the solid USA image across the background at a diagonal. Such a bold fun background!

Layering some simple cardstock stripes and stars, plus keeping a really simple sentiment strip helps to balance out the busyness of these cards. The patterns and colors are bold, but having some solid space gives your eyes a place to rest and creates a more balanced card. (And sometimes. . .busy and bold is FUN!)

Stars and Stripes! Patriotic Thank You Cards with Die-Cutting

Memorial Day might mean picnics, parties, and a day off from work, but it's important not to forget the reason for the day - and it's a great time to honor and thank our heroes. Today I have a few simple  ideas for handmade cards to say THANKS to our veterans, soldiers and their families. And the best part? You don't even need patriotic supplies in your stash to make some red-white-and-blue goodness.  Ready to take a look?
Stars and stripes are a pretty obvious and FUN way to go for patriotic cards, and you might just have the perfect items already in your stash. I used the Stars Die Set, which makes 6 stars from one pass through the machine. I die cut them in two shades of blue for lots of mix and match possibilities. Think about the stars you already have in your stash - you might even find the stars you want in a Christmas stamp or die set!
Now for the STRIPES. You can certainly just trim some stripes on a paper trimmer, for a simple and quick option - but I loved the idea of using the Pinked Stitched Sentiment Banner Die for my stripes. This die has three widths of banners and they come all attached as one piece. You can certainly cut them apart, but I tend to leave dies like this attached because one pass through the machine gives me three quick banners at once - or in this case, three quick stripes at once.
To finish off this card I pulled two stamps from the Thankful Harvest stamp set. This may look like more of a fall set, but I love it because these sentiments are so versatile. You might be surprised what you can find in your crafty stash to pull together some pretty great patriotic cards, even if you think "I don't have anything patriotic in my stash!"

 In addition to Memorial Day, today is also Die-Cut Obsession Day on the Impression Obsession blog. Head over to the IO blog to find links to all the designers sharing some die-cutting goodness today. I'm so glad you stopped by today, and no matter how you're spending the day, I hope it's filled with LOVE and peace. xoxo

How To Make Patriotic Thank You Cards for Heroes

Use Fun Stampers Journey's stamp sets: All You Do, Old Glory, and Freedom Sparkle. These red rubber stamps work so well together to create patriotic paper crafts of all kinds. #funstampersjourney #handamdecards #patrioticcrafts #lauraloolooHave you ever received a Fourth of July card in the mail? Me either. It's not exactly a card-giving holiday, but I do LOVE making patriotic cards. The bold red and blue color palette speaks to me, and it makes me happy. Perhaps 4th of July is the first thing you think of when you look at patriotic papercrafting supplies, but they can be used for so much more. Today, let's look at two different cards, and discuss who we might share these beauties with. (And hey - if you want to mail a Happy Fourth of July card out this year, you go for it!)

Both of these cards were created using a combination of three stamp sets - I think that's another thing I love about making patriotic crafts - it's so easy to mix and match products. These stamp sets flow so well together, and I was able to add in some simple trimmed cardstock strips and a star border die too. Mixy matchy perfection! These three stamp sets from FSJ will make your crafty patriotic heart happy: All You Do, Old Glory, and Freedom Sparkle. (Click on them to check out the awesome stamp images and some more samples too!) These stamp sets are fantastic for summer party invitations,

The flag from All You Do stamps up a really fun background on this first card. If mass-producing this card, you could stamp a whole 8.5x11 sheet and then trim it into pieces for multiple cards.

On the card below, I created some good old fashioned cardstock stripes using Candy Apple and White Cream cardstock. And how AMAZING is that stamped blue star border. The stamp has that distressed texture to it, which is SO cool.

Independence Day, Memorial Day and Veteran's Day are great opportunities to share handmade love with deployed soldiers, or veterans - but these cards would be appropriate all year long, to share our gratitude. We can also extend our thanks to local heroes at home, firefighters, police officers, and those who help and protect in our communities. Looking for a great idea? Check out this blog post that includes a cookie recipe, plus ideas to make crafty patriotic packaging for those treats - and how one family shared the handmade love with some community helpers!

Land That I Love - a Fourth of July card! {FSJ}

Happy Fourth of July weekend, friends!!!
I created this card to celebrate the weekend, using stamps and dies from Fun Stampers Journey.

This blog post contains affiliate links. When you shop through my links I will receive compensation at no cost to you. Thank you from the bottom of my crafty heart!

To create this card, I stamped the USA map on a diagonal across a Whip Cream block of cardstock. Then I stamped the star in Rich Coral ink, stamping off once onto scrap paper before each impression. The starry stripe is also a stamp - (you can make paper chains with the fun stamped strips!) - but I just trimmed it and tor one end. A die cut star, stamped sentiment, and a wood chip heart were the perfect finishing touches. (Along with....of course....Natural Journey Twine - because. Just because.)

Products used on this card:
Old Glory Stamp Set
(Old Glory Coordinating Die Set also available)
Star-Dom Die Set
Huckleberry Fusion True Color Fusion Ink Pad
Rich Coral True Color Fusion Ink Pad
Natural Thread
