Look at Impression Obsession's NEW Summer Dies!

Hello crafty friends! The kids are out of school, the weather is heating up and the beach is the best place to be these days. It's definitely feeling like summer, and today the Impression Obsession design team is celebrating the Summer Die Release with a blog hop. Are you ready to take a look at today's projects?

The new Wave Frame die is like a mini-background die, and it is SO fun. It's a great way to add a POP of a background without filling the entire card base. (If you're a clean and simple crafter, you might really love this!)

Let's take a quick look at this die.  In the photo below, you see the die and the pieces it cuts. As you can see, it cuts an outer frame, plus the inner pieces. For today's cards, I die cut twice, once from a light blue and once with a dark and then I paired up the light frame with dark waves, and vice versa to create two different looks. (Did you even notice that the backgrounds are opposite on these cards, until I said it? Made ya look!)
I'd like to show you a trick I used when assembling these cards. I like playing around with my card elements before I OFFICIALLY assemble my card, which is tough if the background is five separate pieces. SO here's a tip:

Adhere the frame to a scrap of paper along with the inner wave pieces, as seen below. Then trim around the edges (or start with a scrap the exact size you need.) Now you'll have one solid background piece to play with on your card base. This is especially helpful if you want to adhere everything with foam squares, so you don't have to add foam to every piece.
It was fun to create these simple little underwater scenes with the Wave Frame die and some colorful fishies and sealife. These cards show the Wave Frame used horizontally and vertically. Both ways look great and there are so many more possibilities for this die that I'm anxious to try out. (Vellum maybe? And what about a shaker card with just the frame portion?Ahh, so many fun ideas!)
I'm excited to see what the other designers have created with the IO Summer Die Release! Be sure to stop by the Impression Obsession Blog if you haven't already, for a full list of links. And don't forget, THREE lucky winners will receive $25 gift certificates to the store - so comment all along the way for the best chance to win. The Summer Release Celebration will be open for comments until Monday June 8th at noon CT. All winners will be announced on June 9th on the IO blog.

I had my eye on this die earlier today when I went to the website. Your designs make me want to jump right it! I love everything related to water! It is great to see a smaller background die that doesn't fill up the card. Your tip is a great one, too. Thanks! Your sweet fishies have a happy home. Thanks for the share!

The wave die has so many possibilities and I too like that they don't fill up the whole card. Great tip about using paper. I will use that. Love your colorful little underwater scene with the cute fishes.
