Pumpkin Kisses and Harvest Wishes Card Making Idea

Welcome to Day 2 of the Halloween blog hop at Impression Obsession! We're celebrating all things spooky and sweet from the IO shop. Today's card features a simple stenciled background, and a perfectly plump little pumpkin!
Let's talk about this background first . . .I've used the Retro Ovals stencil a few times now, and each time it's had a completely different look. Gotta love a super versatile product like this! This two-step stencil allows you to make a two-color background without any hassle. Line up your first stencil and ink orange across it. Then, simply line up the second stencil to coordinate (the small ovals) and ink with gray. After that, I lightly rubbed additional orange ink across the panel to create less contrast. The rest of this card is pretty simple. A stamped sentiment, stamped pumpkin, a few gel pen details, plus a heart and some washi tape. Quick and simple, and sweet as can be for fall!

Eeek! Birthdays Are Scary! {Cute Card Idea for a Halloween Birthday}

Who's got October birthdays to celebrate?! Today's card is all sweet, and not really spooky but it's a fun play on Halloween birthdays. Featuring the Monster Birthday stamp set from Impression Obsession, this card is playful and fun with lots of bright colors. It's part of our two-day Halloween blog hop, which is packed with inspiration and the latest info on the closing-sale at IO!

First, let's hit the important details on today's card. I paired the ADORABLE Eeek die, (cut from glitter foam) with the Birthday Monster stamp set - a great set for Halloween cards, birthday cards, or Halloween-birthday cards! Plus those balloons and cute eyeballs are perfect for year round cards. (Here's a TIP: Think about other stamp images you have, that would be adorable with those crazy faces on them!) On today's card I used wiggle eyes for added dimension, and colored the teeth with a white gel pen, to really make them pop.

Now, onward to some business. . . .

This New Stamp Set is a Monster! {Don't Worry, He's Friendly!}

Today's cute monster stamps are just in time for Halloween crafting, but also for birthday and celebration cards. Kids and adults will love their crazy faces and big personalities, and you'll have fun creating your own little monsters for cards, treat bags and more!

This blog post contains affiliate links. When you shop through my links I receive compensation at no cost to you. Thank you from the bottom of my crafty heart!

The Little Monster stamp set includes the monster outline, a solid body shape (use them together like I did above, or use them separately,) plus lots of funny faces to give your monsters big personality. For today's first card I stamped the bodies in a variety of bright colors, added the outline on top, and then added different faces to each. I added some stars to fill in the empty space, and finished it off with one of the cute sentiments on a word bubble.
But now let's think - what ELSE could you do with those faces? What other stamps or dies in your stash could use a funny face? For today's second card I simply stamped the faces onto rectangles for something a little different. Plus, check out the adorable Monster Colors paper pack. The prints are very reminiscent of the Monsters Inc. movie, but the patterns are subtle enough that you can use them for lots of projects other than monsters. (And that color palette - oooooooh! LOVE!)

The Festive Pumpkins stamp set is packed with whimsical and creepy-cute pumpkins perfect for Halloween or fall cards. I paired the pumpkins with a sentiment from the Holiday Truck stamp set and added highlights with my trusty white gel pen.
Next, I went for my favorite Halloween style - spooky and sweet. I colored this cute image with colored pencils, and paired it with some of IO's awesome 6x6 patterned papers. Super simple, and super fun to create!

Quirky and Cute Halloween Critters {New From Impression Obsession}

Quirky and cute, with just a hint of spooky (plus a solid dose of bright, fun colors) is my favorite way to create cards and crafts for Halloween. Today I'm excited to share two cute Halloween card making ideas, using the Creepy Kitty stamp set from Impression Obsession.

This blog post contains affiliate links. When you make purchases through my links I receive compensation at no cost to you. Thank you from the bottom of my crafty heart!

Both of today's cards feature some of the friends featured in the Creepy Kitty stamp set, like this adorable bat. His little expression is so cute, and I couldn't resist adding some wiggle eyes. I fussy cut the images on today's cards, but Creepy Kitty does has coordinating dies, if you'd rather skip the scissors!

The August release at IO has some new awesome tag dies that I know we'll be using ALL the time. I layered and off-set them for this card as a perfect little background for my batty buddy.

This next card is super festive and fun for a Halloween party or a Halloween birthday. I combined Creepy Kitty with another new stamp set called Monster Birthday. It's fun to combine these balloons with some Halloween personality and the spider and spiderweb fit perfectly.

This week, the Impression Obsession team is celebrating the newest release of stamps and dies with a blog hop and there's lots of spooky-cute cards to enjoy! Today is Day 1 of our two-day hop.

Say BOO To This Month's Limited Edition Stamps from Impression Obsession!

There's spooky sweetness in this Halloween themed limited edition stamp set from Impression Obsession. Today we'll grab a white colored pencil for a simple coloring technique using these cute stamps, and I'll give you all the details on this month's stamp set.

This blog post contains affiliate links. When you make purchases through my links I receive compensation at no cost to you. Thank you from the bottom of my crafty heart!

To try out this simple coloring idea, begin with a stamped image on colored cardstock. You may need to experiment to find the sweet spot - you don't want the cardstock color to be so dark that black ink doesn't show up . . .but also dark enough that the white colored pencil shows up nicely.

Then, simply add color to your images. After I was done, I used a white gel pen to add a few lines and fine tip details to finish it off. I love the gray and white paired with patterned papers from the Orange patterned paper pack, also from IO. I'm using these paper packs like CRAZY (just in case you haven't noticed, haha!)

If you're ready to make some spooky and sweet Halloween cards, you won't want to miss the August Limited Edition Red Rubber Stamp Set from Impression Obsession. This stamp set is only available for two months before it retires, so if you love it, don't miss it!

Here's the SCOOP!

Two Spooky and Sweet Halloween Cards With Sparkles and Stripes

'Tis the season for all the sweet and spooky you can handle! I always have fun with the color, playfulness and contrast on handmade Halloween cards. My go-to style is always SWEET meets SPOOKY, and these two cute card ideas are definitely lots of fun for Halloween! Let's take a look and I'll show you how I added some glittery sparkle foam, plus some simple handmade stripes to bring these cards together.

This blog post contains affiliate links. When you shop through my links I receive compensation at no cost to you. Thank you from the bottom of my crafty heart!

Let's talk STRIPES first, shall we? Both of today's cards feature similar, but not quite the same, cardstock stripes. For the spider card, I covered the base with strips of cardstock that I purposely cut a little wonky. There's the the start of the playfulness I love on Halloween cards! To balance all that busy pattern, I added a die-cut circle cut from glittered foam. Then I added two quite friendly spiders, and their speech bubbles. (So cute, right?!) Wonky stripes + glitter + talking spiders definitely = FUN for Halloween.

On the next card I cut straight stripes, and adhered them all right next to each other on a cardstock piece. Then, I die-cut a circle from the panel for a simple striped circle. (The inspiration for this technique came from the amazing Laura Bassen. Find her original idea here.) Glitter foam for the ghost and sentiment adds a fun pop of sparkle and dimension to this card.

Today the Impression Obsession designers are showcasing the August release, and you'll be feeling BATTY over these brand new Halloween goodies (plus so much more!)

Both of today's cards are slightly non-traditional shaped. First up, a mini slimline card which comes together easily with that Pinked Mini Slimline die. The mini slimline size has some flexibility, generally somewhere around 3.5x6 or so. This particular card is 3.25x5.75 which is the perfect size for this die. For both cards, I colored these adorable bats, brand new from the Batty Halloween clear stamp set, using markers in shades of purples. Purple is a fun color to use instead of black or dark gray, to really let those cute faces (and fangs) stand out.

One of my favorite products for adding details on cards is the Gelly Roll Pen from Sakura. (You can find them at Simon Says Stamp, in a variety of thicknesses, but I prefer the Bold Line 10.) I stamped the stars on the yellow layer of this card and then colored them in white white pen.

I love using the Magic Mat with my die cutting machine, because it alleviates those pesky cutting lines on the underneath side of die cut shapes. You know, the ones from your best used cutting plates?

I've never wanted to invest in expensive markers, and I have been REALLY happy with this 100-marker set from Caliart. They're a great price, there's a good assortment of colors, and they work really well for me.
