How to Make Crafty Christmas Decorations With Embroidery Hoops

Do you love the homespun feel of embroidery hoops, but you don't do hand-stitched crafts? I love all the beautiful ideas I see using embroidery hoops in non-traditional ways. (I'm obsessed with embroidery hoop wreaths! So gorgeous!) Today I have a crafty Christmas project that you can make using small embroidery hoops - no stitching required!

For today's projects, I used Fun Stampers Journey DIY Hoops (but you can easily make this project using any type of embroidery hoop.) FSJ's DIY Hoops are sort of like faux embroidery hoops - they're made from lightweight wood, and they're a perfect base for a paper crafted project!

To create this project, first die cut a circle of patterned paper and adhere it to the back of the hoop. I used the Circle Around stitched circle die - the stitching is subtle on the patterned paper, but it's a fun detail.

Next, add a smaller stitched circle die to the center, along with some die cut holly leaves. I love the stitched details because it ties in so beautifully with the homespun feel of the embroidery hoop.

Stamp a sentiment on a die cut rectangle, and then add some Journey Glaze on top for shine and dimension. And can we talk about that coffee cup!? Oh my heck, the Christmas Cheer self adhesive dimensional stickers are ABSOLUTELY adorable. This project came together so easily with darling dies, sweet and simple accessories and a great stamp set for the focal point.
I had so much fun with the first DIY Hoop, that I had to make another one! This next project is the smallest of the hoops. (Did I mention, they come in a pack of 6 - 2 of each size!) I used the Winter Build-a-Scene stamp  and coordinating dies to create this festive little scene. These small stamps and dies are so darling - perfect for creating detailed little scenes. Sometimes tiny dies are difficult to work with - but these are terrific, and they cut beautifully.

I started this project the same way, adding a circle of patterned paper to the underneath side of the hoop, and then I just stamped and die cut my images, and assembled them on, using foam squares to add some dimension.
This smallest size hoop is perfect for embellishing a gift bag, or box. It would be a darling gift tag! It's also going to make a fantastic ornament on my Christmas tree. I'll just add an extra loop of twine, or a hook to the back, and it's ready to go! (Now we just need Christmas to hurry and get here!)
I hope you love today's projects as much as I do. I am ready to make ALL kinds of embroidery hoop projects now!
