Let's hear it for the mamas! And the aunties and grandmas and mom's-best-friend-who's-like-a-mom. How about the foster moms, the adoptive moms (literally and figuratively) and don't forget the dads who are doing their best to be a dad AND a mom. Plus those who WANT to be a mama, or are waiting and trying to become a mama. Let's celebrate them all this Mother's Day, because they each bring something unique and special and loved to our world.
Today's card gives a shout out to the moms in the trenches . . . .the laundry, the baby spit up, the coffee in hand, and haven't had a shower in DAYS moms. You know who they are - and if they have time to look at the mail, they would LOVE a card made just for them.

To celebrate those messy bun kinda days, I made a slightly messy card. Let's take a look at how to make this fun, colorful background. The photo below shows a similar background. It's just lots of scribbles and doodles and some layering of color, using Jane Davenport Colorsticks. (Pastels or Gelatos would work beautifully for this technique too.) Because the Colorsticks are water soluble, after I did some serious doodling, I brushed over it with just a bit of water to blend things together a bit.
This technique is your chance to just get crazy! If you love this, I suggest doing an entire 8.5x11 sheet and then cut it (or tear it) into pieces for multiple cards. Every one will be a bit different! Such fun!
After I trimmed this colorful piece down to size (did you notice I tore the bottom edge?) I layered a thin stripe of black and white striped paper and a piece of scalloped washi tape. Then, I added my stamped image and sentiment. Messy and cute, yes? (Just like those poor mamas, falling asleep in a pile of laundry.)
Don't have any Impression Obsession stamps and dies? I hate to be an enabler, but you really should check out their shop - every time I look, I see something I never noticed before. They have a HUGE selection, in EVERY style and theme! (#sorrynotsorry) Plus, their sale section is AMAZING right now. There are tons of cute clear stamp sets on sale for $7.50! Whaaaat!?

JD Colorsticks have been discontinued, but Gelatos will work similarly, and I love those too!
