What Do You Think of the New BUZZWORTHY Collection?

Hello crafty friends! It's a great day to celebrate a NEW collection from FSJ + Spellbinders. The Buzzworthy Collection is a beautiful floral stamp collection, including great sentiments plus a brand new stencil. You might even get brave enough to try just a little bit of mixed media when you see this great new collection. (Don't worry, we'll hold your hand the whole way!)

The Buzzworthy Collection is a really fantastic all-year-long floral collection. I'm going to show you two very different color palettes and seasonal ideas with the new red rubber stamp sets, Block Prints and Sweet as Honey.  Let's begin with autumn, because I'm all about the fall colors right now.

Learn to make a fresh fall card using stamps and dies from FSJ + Spellbinders. This card from the Buzzworthy collection features some simple modeling paste and stencil technique in the background. Even if you haven't ever used modeling paste, this is a simple technique to try! Click to see ideas for handmade cards using these products!
I said you might feel brave enough to try some mixed media with this collection. That's because the Buzzworthy collection includes modeling paste, a brand new stencil, yellow paint and a spatula. The technique I used on this card is VERY simple if you've never used paint or modeling paste on a card before. Here's the scoop:
  • Simply lay the stencil down onto a sheet of cardstock and tape it in place.
  • Using the spatula, grab a scoop of modeling paste, or paint. (Both will work the same way for this technique.)
  • Smear the modeling paste or paint across the stencil to fill the area you'd like. You'll notice that mine is very loose and I wasn't trying to cover the entire card base. The imperfection is part of the perfection here.
  • Scrape up the extra paste or paint as you go along.
  • Let your beauty dry before finishing the card.
I find it best to have some fun and maybe get a little messy, creating a lot of backgrounds at once. Then when they're dry I have lots of pieces to play with. When you're finished just wash up your stencil and spatula with soap and water.
When the honeycomb background was dry, I kept this card pretty simple. I stamped and embossed the sunflower image from Block Prints onto cardstock and die cut a stitched circle. I stamped the sentiment on a smaller circle, and added one more die cut circle in dark brown.

(Design tip: Notice how the dark circle at the bottom helps to ground and add weight to the design. It's balanced with the dark frame around the whole card plus that one dark enamel dot.)
Make a fall sunflower card using a honeycomb background made with modeling paste. The sunflower image is stamped and embossed in white for a beautiful fall card in shades of yellows and browns. Alright, next up - this card is QUITE different. Usually I try to share two cards that coordinate, but today the whole point is versatility - so here we go! For this spring or summertime card, I used stamps from the Sweet as Honey stamp set, which is part of the Buzzworthy collection.
For the background stripe on this card, I started with a piece of watercolor paper. Next, I loosely spread some water onto it, and then I dripped and spread Jane Davenport Inkredible Inks onto it. I love the way the colors blend and spread and make magic every time. After the panel dried, the rest of the card was easy peasy! I put together some of the images, added a little more color and assembled it for a fresh springy card.
