Happy Easter cards!

A sweet friend at my church asked me if I could create some Easter cards for her to send, and I was happy for an excuse to dig through my crafty stash and pull some cards together. I am just SMITTEN with Avery Elle's Banner & Wreath stamp set. A few weeks ago I used it to create a set of condolence cards, and today, with a few minor tweaks, it's perfect for Easter! Please excuse my photos - I just snapped these as I was working, and I completely forgot to photograph them properly, before handing over the cards!

The Happy Easter sentiment I used is from Lil' Inker Designs - and I was THRILLED that it fit perfectly in the banner! I've been using my watercolor pencils like a crazy person lately, so I had THE best time coloring all these images. Then, I sat in the car line at school and trimmed all the little pieces out, and assembled the cards when I got home.

I love using a splatter of Fun Stampers Journey's Silks in the background of my simple cards - the Silk comes in a bottle like nail polish, and you just give a little flick onto your card, and out splatters a shimmery fun splash of color. On these cards I used the Bubble Gum Silk, which is probably my favorite - but it might be a tie with the Cool Pool Silk, which is an amazing greenish blue color.

For a little variety, I created some cards with patterned paper eggs too. The egg is from The Stamps of Life eggs2hunt stamp set, and it's so much fun - it's just the outline, so I stamped it on assorted patterned papers, and assembled these cards quickly and easily!

Geometric Heart Card {Avery Elle}

Hello friends! As Valentine-Card-Creation season is upon us (wow, that was a serious mouthful. I promise, I'll never say that again,) I thought I'd pull another card out of my stash that fits the season.

This is the very last card that I had published in Paper Crafts & Scrapbooking magazine, in the February issue. This isn't as difficult as it looks. . .the hardest part is laying the triangles out evenly and straight. Would you care to give it a try???

1. Trim1-inch squares of cardstock. (Three colors is a good place to start. I used black, aqua, and glittered cardstock.)

2. Trim each square diagonally in half to create triangles. (You'll need 20 triangles to create this heart.)

3. Use my card as a guide and assemble the triangles to create a heart. Play with the arrangement of colors. I tried to evenly distribute the colors, and avoid having the same color triangles next to each other. There are so many possibilities though - do what you like! You could even just do one color to start.

Here's another card I created using the same formula, but for this I used fuchsia, coral, and gold cardstocks. This is a larger 5x7 card. If you have any questions, just holler! I had fun figuring out how to make this project! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Go-to Gal Designer Challenge {Tsukineko/IMAGINE Crafts}

Good day, sweet crafty friends!It's Go-to Gal Designer Challenge day! This is a just-for-fun challenge that the Paper Crafts & Scrapbooking magazine Go-to Gals toss out to each other, using some of our favorite products. This month we are playing with Tsukineko/IMAGINE Crafts products. If you hoard ink, then you probably have some of their great products in your stash. Tsukineko/IMAGINE Crafts makes VersaMagic, VersaFine, Memento and StazOn . . .just to name a FEW! I'll be honest, I had never really used a chalk ink until Tsukineko came into my life! And I've never crafted the same again! :)

For today's project, I had some brand new Stampin' Up stamps looking adoringly at me (Fall Fest and For All Things), just begging to be inked up. It still feels quite far from autumn around here, so I thought I'd do something different, and use some not-quite traditional colors on my pumpkins. I used Tsukineko/IMAGINE Crafts' VersaMagic inks in Pixie Dust, Pink Grapefruit, Mango Madness, plus Key Lime for the leaves and stems. The small Dew Drop sized ink pads are perfect for a project like this, because I was able to ink up the stamps with two colors, to create my green stems, all in one step.

I paired my sweet pumpkins with Avery Elle woodgrain cardstock. (We discussed this in my last blog post. . .and here it is again, because I'm telling you - I LOVE this cardstock!) I also added my favorite May Arts twine, plus a wood embellishment from Close To My Heart.

So, here's my not-quite-ready-for-fall, fall card. I am excited to see what the other Go-to Gals are up to, with their Tsukineko/IMAGINE Crafts products. They aren't just YOUR Go-to Gals. . .they are MINE too, and I am seriously turning to them for help, inspiration, and chit chat EVERY day. They're the best. Holiday Cards & More winner! {plus a Reminisce Christmas card!}

Just a quick pop in to announce the winner of the copy of Holiday Cards & More! Chriss Blagrave, from Botanical Cafe is my random winner! Hooray and congrats Chriss!! And I can't leave without sharing a project, so here's a Christmas card I created using Reminisce's Chalkboard Christmas paper. It's so easy and fun to create a chalkboard inspired project with this paper. I just trimmed it, and I created the frame using strips of Avery Elle's woodgrain cardstock. I seriously am smitten with this cardstock. I hoard every last little scrap, because it's always perfect for something. The texture is fantastic. I just cut four strips of it, overlapped them around the chalkboard panel, and rounded the corners. I added a little sprig of holly at the top, with some twine.

Christmas in July: Day 4 {The Stamps of Life}

Happy Holidays! I'm enjoying my vacation with my family right now, so I thought I'd leave you with a little Christmas in July while I'm away. Scroll on down to see the first few days of winter inspiration, if you've missed it.

Today I've got a card featuring The Stamps of Life. There are quite a few super-cute holiday themed stamp sets at The Stamps of Life, and these Christmas lights are one of my favorites. Lights4Christmas is a cool stamp set because it has the Christmas bulb outline, plus solid and polka-dotted inside shapes to customize your lights. It's also great for paper-piecing and stamped techniques.

On this card I stamped the light bulb outline, and then stamped the inside with the dotted stamp. I trimmed the lights and adhered them to the card, with some string behind. Isn't that little Merry Christmas tag cute? Perfect for little gift tags or accents. (And even better. . .this stamp set has coordinating dies, great for mass producing Christmas cards and projects!)

Next up, a little packaging project. I used a Sizzix Thinlits Milk Carton die and my Big Shot to create this little box. It would be perfect for little candies or treats. It's small - 3 5/8 inches tall when assembled. It's ADORABLE.

Enjoy the Journey {Avocado Arts}

I was so happy to be invited to play with Avocado Arts this month! Avocado Arts sells clear photopolymer stamps, made in the USA. I got to play with the new stamp set, Enjoy The Journey.

You can head over to the Avocado Arts blog to view more photos of these projects, but here are some details about them.

On my One Step at a Time card, I used dies cut the hills, and cloud (supplies are linked below.) When I created this, I was actually intending to put the car on the scene (that you'll see on a card below) but then I saw how perfectly the sentiment fit here, and I decided to do something quirky and just put the shoes walking across. I punched holes in each one to thread twine through for the laces.

Next up, I paper-pieced some lighthouses to create this card, and tag. The Nautical collection from Fancy Pants was just perfect with this! And the wave die was the perfect finishing touch on this card.

And finally, my tie-died car. I really wanted to create a super colorful car, and I debated how to achieve that. I ended up stamping it, and then adding Hero Arts Ink Daubers over the top. Big thanks to Avocado Arts for inviting me to play this month!

How to Make a Simple 4th of July Headband and Glasses

Just in time for the Fourth of July, how about a quick and simple Independence Day headband for girls or guys, with crazy stars, and some coordinating glasses? Seriously - you can totally whip together this bandana headband, and starry sunglasses TODAY. It's perfect for kids, but I'll be honest, I'll probably steal this from my kids and give it a whirl.

My kids and I wanted to put together some patriotic headbands - there are tons of cute ideas online. I busted out my new nesting star dies, from Technique Tuesday, and a stack of craft foam and started die-cutting away. We pulled some pipe cleaners out of the craft box, and a couple of bandanas we already had.

The kind folks at Tombow gave me their new XTreme Permanent Adhesive to try out, and it was perfect for this project. It's super strong, (5x stronger than their standard tape runner) and it's totally held up to my wild and crazy boys. After die-cutting a bunch of stars, I put adhesive on the back of one, and started layering them together with a pipe cleaner in between.

Once they were done, the boys and I twisted and curled the pipe cleaners. Then I folded up the bandana, making sure the final fold was facing UP. After tying the bandanas around their heads, I just tucked the pipe cleaners in. And since we had some stars leftover, we decided to jazz up these inexpensive sunglasses we had hanging around! PERFECTION. The boys look amazing, I must say!

Photo Pocket Page Challenge {Moxie Fab World}

Have you been by the Moxie Fab World lately?

In honor of the new Photo Pocket Scrapbooking issue, the Moxie Fab challenge is to create a project using a journaling card. (Speaking of which, you can find Photo Pocket Scrapbooking on a newsstand near you, or in the Scrap & Paper Shop. It is pretty cool - pocket scrapbooking ideas, as well as 12x12 layouts, and even cards too!)

I decided to play along on this challenge, because let's face it. . . .I have a LOT of journaling cards, and I don't do a lot of journaling and scrapbooking! I used a journaling card from Close To My Heart's Picture My Life collection. I added a sentiment from Avery Elle and a few little do-dads and patterned paper to finish it off.

You've Got This {Avery Elle} (and giveaway winner!!!)

I really appreciate the time that many of you took to share your thoughts with me about blog posts and supply lists and such. And now, onward to a card!
I created this card in particular for someone special. I needed a masculine card to encourage my pal who is on a major life-changing journey. I used Avery Elle's Brushed stamp set. The font is so nice on this, and brushstroke fonts are soooo very trendy right now! Keeping it simple helps a card maintain it's guy-friendliness, so I just rounded the corners and called it a day. This layout would be perfect to duplicate in a variety of color combos and sentiments. I always love simple, striking cards that are easy to mass-produce. (Because simple and striking does not always mean EASY.)

Storybook {Avery Elle}

The sweetest.

Seriously, how precious is this darling little deer?

I created this card using brand new stamps from Avery Elle. They are extra special because this stamp set was designed by my pal and fellow Go-to Gal, Heather Campbell.

The stamps (and coordinating dies) are part of the Storybook set. The set isn't overwhelmingly baby, or birthday. . . but it could be used for either. And it's just SWEET. Heather has a video on her blog, which really showcases the possibilities with these stamps! I highly recommend it. (But watch with caution . . .because you WILL need the stamps after you see it!)

Smile! {We R Memory Keepers and Avery Elle}

Happy weekend my friends! Are you getting crafty? I have a crafty to-do list a mile long, but most of it is fun, so I'll plug on through!

Today I'd like to share a pretty quick card with you today. I created it for the last Paper Crafts & Scrapbooking call, but it wasn't quite right for the issue - that means I can share it with YOU! I loved using tons of We R Memory Keepers washi tape on this one. I alternated strips of pink and yellow and adhered them at an angle for a little extra interest.

Here's a quick tip - if you'd like to attach twine or ribbon at an angle, use a hole punch. Punch a HALF circle right on both edges of your cardstock, and it will give a nice little spot for your fibers to stay put. Then tie it as desired. If you look closely at this card you'll see the little half-circles.

I used one of my very favorite colors of cardstock on this card. I'm sort of obsessed with it right now - can you believe it? It isn't aqua!? (Although it looks AWESOME with aqua!) It's from WorldWin and it's called Cyclamen Cascata. The color is so bold and fabulous.

2013 was a beautiful crafty adventure. I made new friends. I hugged some friends for the very first time. I almost crafted my fingers off. And it was amazing!
