Simple Fall Cards Full of Leaves and Thanks

I am an absolute sucker for leaf stamps and dies. (We probably discuss this every year on my blog.) So I jumped at the chance, when a dear woman from church asked me to make her some fall cards.

I got so carried away, that I made extras and sold quite a few card sets to other lovely friends who liked the idea of sending out some autumn love! I'm looking forward to sending out what's left, and sharing my thankful thoughts with loved ones!

The first three all follow the same design, using stamps and dies from Lil' Inker Designs.

The Leaf Love die set is one of my absolute GO-TO die sets for fall. And Lil' Inker has a coordinating stamp set, called Leafy Greetings that fits right inside each leaf. Seriously cute! These cards came together SO quickly. I had fun mixing and matching the dotted papers (from Echo Park) and digging deep into my stash of washi tape. Because crafting is my job AND my hobby, sometimes it's a fun break from WORK, to dig into my non-work stash, and show it some love!

When I'm mass producing cards, I definitely work assembly line style...I trim all the card bases, then score and fold them all. On these cards, then I trimmed and adhered the paper all at one time, all the washi etc etc. The leaf dies come attached to each other, and I keep them that way - it's so quick to die cut all the leaves at once, and in no time at all, you've got a yard full of paper leaves to stamp! YAY! 

Next up, on these two cards, I used the sentiment from  Leaf Silhouettes from Sweet 'N Sassy Stamps. Dang, I've had this stamp set a long time, and I just keep on loving it so much! I even used it on a project for the cover of Paper Crafts Magazine, many moons ago! I paired the sentiment with leaves from Technique Tuesday's I Give Thanks stamp set. Another one I just keep using over and over. This set has coordinating dies for the leaves, but I actually trimmed mine - it was a good project to do while sitting in the school car line! The background is made from washi tape, and a background stamp (I think it's from Stamping' Up, but I'm not sure what it is!)

Bird Friends card and treat bag {FSJ, Technique Tuesday, Lil' Inker Designs, Reverse Confetti}

It's fun to mix and match products from some of my favorite companies! For today's projects you'll see a bit of Fun Stampers Journey, Technique Tuesday,  Lil' Inker Designs, and Reverse Confetti, (and probably a few others!) 

On this card I wanted to showcase the brand new Technique Tuesday stamp set called Bird Friends. (This stamp set starts shipping on 2/15/16) I love these little birdies, and they're going to be fun to paper-piece (as you'll see in just a second) plus they'll be fun to color using so many mediums! On this card, I decided to keep them bright and white, on a VERY colorful background. (Patterned paper is FSJ's Spring Parade 6x6 paper pack) I die cut the paper using Lil' Inker Designs Dual Stitched Circles dies, and I created the word bubble from LID's Speech Bubbles 2 die set. (Seriously, these are two of the most-used die sets I own!)

Next up - how cute would this treat bag be with a giant chocolate chip cookie in it, for a teacher, friend, coworker or neighbor? The Spring Treat Bags are new from Fun Stampers Journey and they are the perfect size for treats, or for a card! (I used one as an envelope in my previous post!) I layered so many fun goodies on this bag . . .the Love Note scalloped die is from Reverse Confetti. I wanted that die set for SO very long, and I'm glad I finally splurged on it. It's adorable, and a great backdrop for this little birdie scene.

{Technique Tuesday & Cath Edvalson}

Hello friends! I am absolutely, positively, and COMPLETELY thrilled to celebrate with my friends, Cath Edvalson and Technique Tuesday on Cath's new collection of stamps and dies which debuted at TT earlier this month. 

And what better way to celebrate??? A blog hop of course. After all, we're crafters, and when we aren't crafting - we're blog hopping! The Garden Leaves die is my favorite of this release (I think. . .it's so very hard to choose!) The leaves can be used by themselves, or with the shadow layer behind them. I had a ton of fun playing around with all the different options!

Hello! {Technique Tuesday plus a little blog refreshing}

I've been doing a little work on the bloggity-blog, so I wanted to pop in and say HI. This is a card I did months ago. Maybe even a year ago. So I couldn't quite tell you what all I used. The Say It- Hello die is from Technique Tuesday. I do know that, (and I love it. As a side note - seriously, have you looked at Technique Tuesday lately? I swear their dies just keep getting cuter and cuter!)

I created this card for an unpublished issue of Paper Crafts & Scrapbooking magazine. (Sniffle. I still miss our beloved magazine, don't you?) This card was to showcase the idea of focal point. So, indeed this card has a pretty strong, well, FOCAL POINT. Having a focal point means that your eyes know just where to rest on a project (often without us even realizing it.) And then the eye naturally keeps coming back to that point. Often, a project can become so busy that different elements of it compete for our attention. This idea holds true for cards, scrapbook layouts, paintings, photography - any type of visual art. 

So, there you go - your daily dose of art education. (I knew there was a reason I majored in Art Education!)

Graduation Card {2015 #senior}

Hello friends! I have had today's card for. . .umm, AGES. But it's finally the right time to share it. I dusted this baby off, from the stash of Would-Have-Been-Published cards for Paper Crafts & Scrapbooking magazine. This card would have been published around now, if we hadn't said goodbye to our sweet dear magazine.

Today, in the midst of graduation season is the perfect time to share it with you. I have long lost the supply list, but I can tell you it's a combination of dies and stamps from some of my favorite companies. Seriously, I used a ton of different stuff together on this card:

The stamps are LLD Happy Graduation and the number dies are LLD Bright Lights Numbers and Symbols, both from My Favorite Things. 

The banner die is from Paper Smooches Streamers dies. 

The Hello sentiment die is the Say It - Hello die from Technique Tuesday. (I love that die with all my heart!) 

And last but not least, the cloud dies are from Lawn Fawn, from Spring Showers. 

It's almost JUNE! I can't believe summer is pretty much upon us! My littlest just graduated from preschool, and he is ready to take on the world in Kindergarten next year. Want a sneak peek from his graduation?  Yes, that's my man, using his diploma as a spy glass. He's a classy guy!

I'm off to Phoenix this week, to be at the Fun Stamper's Journey annual convention. (Follow me on Instagram for updates along the way!) I'll be demoing some fun projects, and helping out with classes, (as well as perhaps sipping a fruity drink by the pool if i can escape for a little while!) Sending Big Hugs {Technique Tuesday and winners!!!}

Thanks to some technical difficulties, I've been away from my blog this week. First, the letter T stopped working on my keyboard. And then within a day or so, the whole keyboard went KAPUT. Technology - can't live with it, can't live without it, right!?

Can't leave you without a card today, so here's an oldie but a goodie that I made a year or two ago. I used WRMK Washi Adhesive Sheets to create the patterns. It's such fun to play with. You can die-cut it, stamp on it, tear it - lot's of possibilities. The stamps are from Technique Tuesday.  I had fun putting together these words to create a long sentiment.

Thank You For Being Fantastic {Technique Tuesday and Seasons Givings hop winner}

Oh my gosh you guys, how FUN was the Seasons Givings blog hop?! Seriously, it was such fun to see all the visitors that came by. Thank you, and WELCOME, if you're a new follower to my blog, Instagram, or Facebook page - I definitely found some new friends this week, and I'm so happy you're here!

Today I have a card to share with you - I did this quite a while ago, and it's been sitting in my folder of projects to share! And you all ARE fantastic, and I DO thank you - so it's pretty perfect for today.

Here's how I created this: First, I embossed the sentiment and stars with white embossing powder, on a white card base. Then I scribbled Gelatos on a sheet of acetate. (Anything slick and non-porous will do - even some leftover plastic packaging or a Ziplock bag) I tried to color an area roughly the size of my card base (you'll understand why, in a minute!) Then, I spritzed the acetate with water, causing the Gelatos to blend and become more like watercolor and less like crayon. Then I just laid the card facedown on top of the Gelato goodness, and pressed it down. After lifting it up, it's easy to set it back down again if it needs more color. This is a fun project, because you can do it 100 times, and it will never be exactly the same!

I'm looking forward to the fresh start of January, and finding a routine again. Some of us that worked with Paper Crafts & Scrapbooking magazine are still trying to find our way towards a new normal. Going Home {Technique Tuesday}

A few days ago, I shared with you about Technique Tuesday's monthly auto-ship program for stamps and dies. Today's card is featuring the August Fresh Cut Studio dies - I love that the stamps and dies are still available for purchase once the month is up, or if you haven't joined the auto-ship program. (Although I'm all about good deals, and it's a great deal to sign up for auto-ship!)

Okay, so today's card features Going Places dies - how absolutely ADORABLE are these little travel bits and pieces?! airplanes, cameras, suitcases!? ACK! I started die cutting them and I just couldn't stop, so I made a little collage of sorts inside the story card die. If you haven't used a Technique Tuesday card die, check out this page of card die inspiration . . .seriously, everyone one of the projects makes me want to sit down and craft.  But I'm getting distracted - on this card I used the Cool Tab Card and the word "home" is from the Home Circle Card die set.

Picture Perfect {Technique Tuesday}

Hello friends! What's new? I'm here with a clean and simple card, for you today! Although I love (and collect) patterned paper, there's just something about clean white cardstock that always brings me back. For today's card, I used new Technique Tuesday stamps and dies. They are part of TT's new Fresh Cut Studio and Memory Keepers Studio.  Both are new monthly auto-ship programs which offer great discounts for coordinating stamps and dies. You can also purchase them individually in the Technique Tuesday store, even if you don't want to join the club. 

So this month's stamps and dies are called Picture Perfect. This set is fresh and fun - and most important, USABLE. Do you ever see products that look really cool, but then you don't really know what the heck to DO with them? Yeah - me too. So I really dig these stamps and dies, because they offer a ton of possibilities, and they inspire my creativity instead of bogging me down.

Okay so now let's talk about my card. I die cut the frame and the hearts to create a 3D piece of artwork. I folded up the hearts a little, and used a tiny liquid adhesive on the folded centers to attach them. Then I stamped the hanger and sentiment. Clean and simple! White cardstock! It makes me happy. Mister Man card and tag ensemble {Technique Tuesday}

Hello friends! I have two new projects to share with you today, featuring the Mister Man clear stamp set, from Technique Tuesday. I created this card, and coordinating gift tag using Fancy Pants Park Bench papers. 

I enjoyed paper-piecing these ties from coordinating papers. It was fun choosing patterns that would look cool on ties. And the shapes are super easy to trim, so I created this in no time. This was one of those projects that came together easily, because I was using a 6x6 pad and 4x6 Brag Pad of Fancy Pants papers - so everything coordinates perfectly! Sometimes I like combining up different papers from different collections, but not today! 

Creating the tag was just a fun additional project, since I had all these great supplies out! This will be a fun ensemble for a fabulous mister's birthday or special occasion. And I ALWAYS need masculine projects!

A Fond Farewell

Today's card was created with someone very special in mind. It's the lovely Betsy Veldman. I completely love this woman. She is kind-hearted, and her creativity always inspires me. Her good humor and laughter is contagious, and she is just a really fun person to be with. Her artwork is gorgeous, and her attention to detail is impeccable.

I created this card based on one of my favorite recent blog posts that Betsy shared at the Paper Crafts & Scrapbooking blog. It's all about the trendiness of bright colors, with a pop of black and white. I really love bright colors, with black and white, so I was completely inspired!

Betsy has decided it's time to move on from the Go-to Gals and her position at the magazine, so the 6 of us decided to give her a Bon Voyage blog hop, to share our love.  We'll miss her in a major way. It's silly how much I'll miss her - she lives in Iowa, and I live in Florida. It's not like we meet up for coffee every week. She is just as easy to text, email, and chat with as she's always been. I have to keep reminding myself of this, because somehow she feels like she'll be farther away. {I love you Betsy!!!!}

    Want to know more about today's card? I used some brand new and well-loved Technique Tuesday products. The new Cool Tab Card die is going to be a great die in my stash. The Story Card dies are great for journaling cards, and scrapbooking projects, but they are just as terrific for card bases too. I also used a brand new sentiment, from the You're So Sweet stamp set. It's a mini set, and it has four beautiful, and practical sentiments! The poppies are from Poppy Sentiments, which has great flowers for paper-piecing and coloring, plus really usable but unique sentiments.

Christmas In July: Day 3 {Technique Tuesday}

Are we feeling festive yet? Welcome to Day 3 of my Christmas in July! (Scroll on down for Days 1 and 2!) I have a little more Technique Tuesday goodness for you today. I had a lot of fun playing with washi tape and enamel dots on this card! And yes. . . more unconventional colors.

On this card, I combined two great stamp sets. The sentiment is the same one you saw on my last post, called Tis the Season, and the tree is from Trendy Trees. 

Sometimes I'm not quite sure that a card works.  You know what I mean? It's just not quite balanced, or something is OFF. Sometimes I can figure it out, and sometimes I can't, but either way - it's good to just PLAY sometimes, and that's what I did on this card. I played. It may not be perfect, but it was fun.

Christmas in July: Day 2 {Technique Tuesday}

Hello friends! It's day 2 of Christmas in July! Here on my blog, we're spending my summer vacation with a bucketful of holiday spirit. (It makes sense. . . trust me.) Scroll on down if you missed day 1! 

I have two Christmas cards for you today, featuring stamps from Technique Tuesday. This set is called Tis the Season. I LOVE the paper-piece this Christmas tree. It's so much fun to combine patterns and colors! If you were with me for the last Christmas in July post, I shared my love of non-holiday papers and non-traditional color combinations. Here's some more proof, in case you didn't believe me! Ha! 

On this first card, I used Carta Bella's Sew Lovely 6x6 pad. Certainly not Christmas paper, but there's no reason it can't be! 

And next up - what? What's that you say? Non-traditional colors and non-holiday papers? Why yes. You are correct. Carta Bella's Summer Lovin'. After all, it IS summer in real life! I did some more paper-piecing on this Christmas tree. It's really addicting. I just can't help myself. And I used my go-to favorite May Arts burlap ribbon that goes on just about everything I create!

How to Make a Simple 4th of July Headband and Glasses

Just in time for the Fourth of July, how about a quick and simple Independence Day headband for girls or guys, with crazy stars, and some coordinating glasses?  Seriously - you can totally whip together this bandana headband, and starry sunglasses TODAY.  It's perfect for kids, but I'll be honest, I'll probably steal this from my kids and give it a whirl.

My kids and I wanted to put together some patriotic headbands - there are tons of cute ideas online. I busted out my new nesting star dies, from Technique Tuesday, and a stack of craft foam and started die-cutting away. We pulled some pipe cleaners out of the craft box, and a couple of bandanas we already had.

The kind folks at Tombow gave me their new XTreme Permanent Adhesive to try out, and it was perfect for this project. It's super strong, (5x stronger than their standard tape runner) and it's totally held up to my wild and crazy boys. After die-cutting a bunch of stars, I put adhesive on the back of one, and started layering them together with a pipe cleaner in between.

Once they were done, the boys and I twisted and curled the pipe cleaners. Then I folded up the bandana, making sure the final fold was facing UP. After tying the bandanas around their heads, I just tucked the pipe cleaners in. And since we had some stars leftover, we decided to jazz up these inexpensive sunglasses we had hanging around! PERFECTION. The boys look amazing, I must say!

Go-to Gal Designer Challenge {Technique Tuesday}

It's time for a Go-to Gals' Designer Challenge! This is the monthly challenge that us Go-to Gals choose a crafty company to show off and share about! Today we are thrilled to share Technique Tuesday with you! 

The thing I love most about Technique Tuesday stamps is the way they all work together. It is so much fun to combine words and phrases to make creative sentiments, sometimes even from different stamp sets. It stretches the usage of your stamp collection in a big way.  On this card, I used words all from one set, called Say It-Hugs, but for added interest, I used a few different colors to highlight different parts. The patterned strips and the patterned heart were created with my oh-so-favorite washi adhesive sheets from We R Memory Keepers! To create that heart, I just stamped right onto the washi sheet, using StazOn ink, and cut it out (before I peeled it off the sticker backing.)

Happy {Funky} Thanksgiving!!!!!!

Funky Thanksgiving?

Yes, funky Thanksgiving, because these cards are a little funky for me!

(Funky in a good way.) 

On this first funky fall card, I die cut the center rounded rectangle, and then overlaid the die cut circles, smaller rectangle, and leaf. (Stamps and circle dies from Technique Tuesday.)

This second card is a little funky because I put everything at a funky angle. I feel like it isn't quite right. . . .but I LOVE these trees from Sweet Stamp Shop! They are SO much fun!

I'm keeping it short and sweet today, (and funky of course) because well - hello, it's THANKSGIVING!!!!! Have a fabulous day! HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY Thanksgiving!

Go-to Gal Designer Challenge {We R Memory Keepers}

There's so much to be excited about today! It's the day before Thanksgiving! It's the last Wednesday of the month! It's Go-to Gal Designer Challenge Day! Wooohooooo!

Let's get right to it, shall we?!

The Paper Crafts Go-to Gals have ourselves a little crafty fun together on the last Wednesday of each month. This month we're using goodies from We R Memory Keepers! This gave me an awesome excuse to play with one of my very favorite supplies. . . .washi adhesive sheets. Washi Adhesive Sheets come in 12x12 sheets, or in a 6x6 pad. (I'm using the 6x6 on today's project.)

Today's card is FULL of washi. I trimmed a large block and adhered it right to my card base. I created a tag for the center of my card, and I affixed a piece of "regular old washi tape" (also from WRMK) as well as a narrow strip of washi adhesive sheet. Washi tape in any width? Yes please!

In addition to cutting or tearing these adhesive sheets, you can also die cut them. I used a "hello" die from Technique Tuesday, and then along the top of my tag, I used a tag-shaped die from Avery Elle. I wrapped it over the top of my cardstock to create a fun little detail, and then I finished it off with a cute little bow, using my most favorite burlap string from May Arts.

Last April,  I had the extreme pleasure of touring We R Memory Keepers, along with the Go-to Gals, and editors/staff at Paper Crafts magazine. It was so much fun to catch a behind-the-scenes glimpse, plus they even served us way-too-delicious cookies, and let us play with their crafty toys!

Story Card dies {Technique Tuesday}

As promised, here I am with another Technique Tuesday project. This one features the Story Card dies. These are perfect for pocket page scrapbooking, but they are pretty handy dandy on cards too.  I diecut a bunch of pieces and then just started playing around to create this card. I sort of liked the idea of sticking two story cards onto one card. I just flipped the second one over, to vary the placement of the arrow. Pretty fun stuff to just play around with and see what happens!

So Totally Awesome {Technique Tuesday}

I've been playing with some new goodies from Technique Tuesday lately. Would you like to stay around for a few minutes and see? :)

This first card uses the new Tis' the Season stamp set. Yup, the stars are actually part of a Christmas set! I paper-pieced them, (with paper from Lawn Fawn) and added the sentiment, using a great go-to stamp set, Incredible, by Ali Edwards. (I added in the parentheses with a Sharpie!) 

This card features the brand spankin' new Good to Snow set. These snowmen melt my heart! {hahaha!} I had so much fun coloring them and trimming them and clustering them up. They are totally adorable. I colored these little guys with Touch Twin markers.
