Simple Fall Cards Full of Leaves and Thanks

I am an absolute sucker for leaf stamps and dies. (We probably discuss this every year on my blog.) So I jumped at the chance, when a dear woman from church asked me to make her some fall cards.

I got so carried away, that I made extras and sold quite a few card sets to other lovely friends who liked the idea of sending out some autumn love! I'm looking forward to sending out what's left, and sharing my thankful thoughts with loved ones!

The first three all follow the same design, using stamps and dies from Lil' Inker Designs.

The Leaf Love die set is one of my absolute GO-TO die sets for fall. And Lil' Inker has a coordinating stamp set, called Leafy Greetings that fits right inside each leaf. Seriously cute! These cards came together SO quickly. I had fun mixing and matching the dotted papers (from Echo Park) and digging deep into my stash of washi tape. Because crafting is my job AND my hobby, sometimes it's a fun break from WORK, to dig into my non-work stash, and show it some love!

When I'm mass producing cards, I definitely work assembly line style...I trim all the card bases, then score and fold them all. On these cards, then I trimmed and adhered the paper all at one time, all the washi etc etc. The leaf dies come attached to each other, and I keep them that way - it's so quick to die cut all the leaves at once, and in no time at all, you've got a yard full of paper leaves to stamp! YAY! 

Next up, on these two cards, I used the sentiment from  Leaf Silhouettes from Sweet 'N Sassy Stamps. Dang, I've had this stamp set a long time, and I just keep on loving it so much! I even used it on a project for the cover of Paper Crafts Magazine, many moons ago! I paired the sentiment with leaves from Technique Tuesday's I Give Thanks stamp set. Another one I just keep using over and over. This set has coordinating dies for the leaves, but I actually trimmed mine - it was a good project to do while sitting in the school car line! The background is made from washi tape, and a background stamp (I think it's from Stamping' Up, but I'm not sure what it is!)

Crafting a sympathy card {Paper Crafts & Scrapbooking magazine}

Creating sympathy cards is never the most fun task. It's hard to create a lovely and heartfelt card, that's not too cheery sunshine but not too bleak and sad. I love the way this color palette came together with pale aqua, gray, and black. I used a downloadable sentiment from Paper Crafts & Scrapbooking - have you checked out all of their downloadable sentiments, patterns and templates? My fingers are crossed that after the magazine is no more, that the resources on the website will continue! (I'll let you know if I hear anything!) There are so many great downloads. You can find all of them here on the Paper Crafts & Scrapbooking website.   (edit: I just realized that this particular sentiment was never released - it was intended for an upcoming issue - but there are a billion other fabulous sentiments on the website! Go grab them!)

I used patterned paper from Teresa Collins Something Wonderful collection, as well as Echo Park's Capture Life Black and White and Carta Bella's Sew Lovely. (affiliate links at scrapbook.com) The wood embellishment is from Close To My Heart. Such a fun accessory!

weddings and babies, oh my! {The Stamps of Life}

Hello, my friends! Today I thought I'd share a few cards with you, if thats ok. (After all, it's kinda what I do around here.) :) Both of today's cards feature The Stamps of Life, by Stephanie Barnard. I've been working with Stephanie and The Stamps of Life since just after they opened. I had just had a baby, and adding a design team to my life sounded ridiculous. . . .but I couldn't resist. And I'm so glad I didn't! My love for TSOL just keeps growing, so today I have two cards to show you.

The first, features the wedding2celebrate stamp set. I used white pigment ink and stamped on chalkboard paper (I'm pretty sure it's from Echo Park's Capture This Black and White.) The circle pattern paper is Teresa Collins Something Wonderful.

This next card features The Stamps of Life set called morechalksayings2stamp. There are two of these chalk sayings stamp sets so far, and I just adore them both. Chalkboard art continues to be really trendy, and the coordinating banner dies are a lot of fun too! (You can find the original chalksayings2stamp  on the TSOL website as well.)

I just gave this card to a sweet friend of mine who is about to give birth to her second child. I thought it was perfect, because those final days are so exciting, nerve-racking, beautiful, and stressful - all rolled into one! This patterned paper is also from the Something Wonderful collection. . . .fun fact? Teresa Collins herself, handed me this paper pack, when I was in Utah for the Paper Crafts & Scrapbooking magazine editorial board meetings. We visited the building that My Mind's Eye, Teresa Collins, and Hazel & Ruby share. (I'll admit. . . I was a little star-struck!)

HERE! {sort of}

Hey friends - just checking in REALLY fast, to say HELLO!!!! I decided to take a few more weeks off from blogging to enjoy my kids' last weeks of summer vacation. But tomorrow I'm officially BACK. School starts on Monday, and I'm ready (sort of) to face this new chapter of family life, with all of my kids in school. Littlest man starts preschool, so I'll have a few hours to myself. I pretty much haven't been ALONE in 10 years. . . .so we'll see how it goes.

Don't flip! {Pink & Main}

A week!? It's been a WEEK since my last blog post? 

So, it's been a busy week. And now we are in full-on summer mode. No more tests and no more books, no more teacher's dirty looks! (Or something to that effect. . . .not that MY child has EVER gotten a dirty look from a teacher!) Speaking of which. . . . care to see his beginning to end of 3rd grade photos? I LOVE seeing the way he's growing up! 

Because of that sweet little face (which is far more wild and crazy than it looks) in addition to the wild and crazy face of his not-pictured little brother, my blog posts may be sporadic this summer. We have some trips planned, and some summer adventures to have. But I'll be here. . .perhaps some weeks even more than normal. Just plan for the UNPLANNED around here! BECAUSE IT'S SUMMMMMER! (wahoo!) 

But now, onward to some crafty goodness. . . . I received these sweet stamps from Pink & Main and I haven't shared them with you yet! And now, I see they have another new release since I've gotten them, so you'll have to go and check out all their stamps! They are high quality clear stamps made in the USA, (because I'm sort of a stamp snob you know!) I had fun pairing these cute flip flops with paper from Echo Park. I actually made this card at one of our late night crafty sessions during editorial board . . .I can't believe I haven't shared it yet!

Hello Summertime {Echo Park} plus a little giveaway!

Hello friends! I have a little more summer inspiration for you today. I just can't help it! We were at a pool party Saturday night, complete with hot dogs, and a margarita machine. And then on Monday, we spent the morning at the beach, and the afternoon at the pool, and finished the day off with bacon cheeseburgers. There may be two more weeks of school, but it's SUMMER baby!

I created this card with some more Walking on Sunshine collection from Echo Park. I used the 6x6 paper pad, plus the "Summertime" sticker from the 12x12 Collection kit. I also paired it up with a Hello die from Paper Smooches, and a tag die from Avery Elle. (Those are two dies that I use again. . .and again. . .and again!)

Say it with Sentiments {Sweet Stamp Shop}

Today marks my last blog post over at the Sweet Stamp Shop. I've loved spending the last three months surrounded by SWEET! And I'm certainly not leaving the SWEET behind - just my official duties as a design team member.

Relax {Echo Park}

Hello friends! Summer is almost upon us. It's creeping closer day by day, as we count down the days left of school. At this point, I'm feeling pretty excited to get this summer STARTED! Mornings with a relaxed schedule, and lots of playtime for the boys. (Fingers crossed that they get along better this year, than last summer. They are almost 5 years apart, and last summer.  .well. . . . .it wasn't exactly smooth sailing!)

So I thought I'd kick off the almost-official beginning of our summer, with a summer themed card. Echo Park's brand new Walking On Sunshine Collection was perfect!

In addition, I used a Journal Layer from Simple Stories DIY Collection. I LOVE these things -they come in a big pack, and there are all sorts of shapes perfect for layering on a card or layout. You can stamp on them, or attach stickers, like I did on this card. Some twine and a clothespin finished things off.

I'm feeling EXCITED! {Sweet Stamp Shop}

Goodness, friends. . .it's been a flurry of new stamps to share around here lately! I. LOVE. IT. (I'm sorry for all the of enabling I do on a regular basis!) Today is a Sweet Stamp Shop release day, the first of TWO for the month. That Nicole just can't help herself, and she keeps cranking out the SWEET!

This stamp set is called Feelings. How PERFECT will this be for pocket scrapbooking?! And traditional scrapbooking!? And card making!? And little notes in lunch boxes and briefcases?!

Here's my favorite hippo pal to demonstrate how I paired the words "I'm feeling excited" with stamps from Speech Bubbles and Just The Basics to create a fun little card. (Patterned paper is from Echo Park.)

Sweet Friends Mini Card Set {Sweet Stamp Shop}

Glam gold ink and a Go-to Gal Designer Challenge!

Hello, hello! I love it when I have LOTS to share with you - and today is one of those days! First of all, I am posting over on the Paper Crafts & Scrapbooking blog today. We're glamming up our springtime palette with GOLD.  And as I promised in that blog post, I have some more GOLD to share with you here too, in the inky variety.

The Delicata ink pads from Tsukeniko came highly recommended to me, from my crafty advisors on Facebook. (Seriously - do you ask your Facebook friends for recommendations on EVERYTHING, like I do?!) These ink pads are amazing. There's something so buttery about this ink - it's easy to work with, it dries pretty quickly, especially for pigment ink, and it is absolutely GORGEOUS! So without further ado, let me show you how I used it!

On the first card, I tapped that wooden veneer heart in the ink, then into a clear, glittery embossing powder. I heat set it, and let it dry for a minute or two. Fun, right!? And that beautiful gold paper is from Stampin' Up, and it's another GLAM GOLD crafting material that I have been using a LOT lately!

Okay - next up. . . .on this card, I dragged the edges of the journaling card (from Close To My Heart) through the ink, and I stamped the sentiment. Then I stamped some gold circles on cardstock, trimmed them, and added dimensional glaze over the top to make some faux enamel dots. I adhered them to the card with glue dots. Super fun. (The smallest ones I used a hole punch to cut out, but the larger ones I cut by hand, because I'm crazy like that.)

Today is also Go-to Gal Designer Challenge day. On the last Wednesday of the month us GTG's like to throw out a challenge to each other and get creative with some of our favorite companies' products. Today we are showcasing Echo Park. It's also an important day because it's the first time our NEWEST Go-to Gal is joining us. Did you see the news that Laina Lamb has joined us? I am thrilled to get to know her better, and I hope you are too! (Show her some extra love today, okay!?) 

So I sort of accidently fudged the challenge on this card. I realized just as I was posting it, that I used a Carta Bella collection for this card. . .Carta Bella is the sister company to Echo Park. So it's sort of the same. . .and sort of totally different. At any rate, this card is using the new "It's A Celebration" collection. And I just love the colors - the navy and mint with yellow and coral are so pretty!

quick and simple thank you cards

I've been so blessed to received goodies from some super generous companies lately, and I wanted to make some cards for them, to show my appreciation.  Plus, I did a little crafty shopping a few months ago, (something I RARELY do) and I haven't had time to get everything inky yet. So, I thought I'd share some product today, that is making me absolutely HAPPY! This first card shows off a SUPER FUN stamp set from Paper Smooches, called I Heart Art.  It's perfection for a card for a crafty friend!  

I whipped up a couple of these cards at one time. They were quick and simple, plus a great way to use up some scraps.  (That paper is Dots and Stripes, from Echo Park.) There's just a little bit of coloring on here, on the easel, and I used some awesome new colored pencils, from Tombow. The Irojiten colored pencils are so smooth - I swear, it was like I was coloring with butter. (Well, not exactly.) But seriously - if you are in the market for colored pencils, I highly recommend these! I have been a Prismacolor pencil girl, for years - and I only have a couple of these Tombow pencils, but they have me craving the whole set!!!  They are absolutely gorgeous. (Sorry. I totally drool over great pencils! It's the art major in me. I can't escape it!) 

Next up, is another quick card, featuring Penny Black clear stamps - AND their paper. This 6x6 stack, called Madison, has bright colors, and cheery patterns.  I am all about BRIGHT and CHEERY so this paper is the perfect addition to my stash!

We Click!

I have had this sweet little stash of Echo Park's This & That Charming paper and stickers sitting in my drawer.  I've made quite a lot of projects with it, but I have quite a bit left. . .so in my never ending attempt to USE UP what I have, I created two sweet cards to share with you today! 

I super SUPER love this one - and every time I look at it, I sing one of my favorite songs. And it's a kid's song. Seriously, I am SUCH a mom.  But it is catchy, and adorable, and I love it.  It's called Click Click, by Elska. Seriously - adorable. Go listen to it  and tell me that you don't love it! I dare you! (No, don't crush me.)  We have a free year of Sirius radio in our car, and of course the kid's station, Kids Place Live, is ALWAYS on.  But I am a happy chick when this song comes on! And then we replay it over and over - my three-year-old saying "Click Click" is pretty much the cutest thing ever.

You Mean the World to Me

This is my card for this week's CPS sketch, number 233. I made the gumballs with a hole punch, using the tiniest scraps of my Echo Park paper! Not going to waste a smidgen of that stuff! :)
The boys are running wild around me. . .I wish you could see my living room right now (well, really, I'm SO glad you CAN'T.)  So really, I REALLY should go. Must. Supervise. The. Monkeys. ;)

my favorite and my best. . . (polaroid fun!)

I LOVE all of the new Polaroid goodies I'm seeing these days.  Stamps, digital elements. . .lots of cool stuff for making fun retro looking projects.  I don't happen to HAVE any of the cute stamps and products featuring Polaroid or retro photos . .. so I decided to attempt my own.

And, I have to say, umm. . .hello EASY PEASY!
It's a white rectangle.
With a blue square.
(Seriously, you can handle this!)

And then I stamped my cutie patootie pals, from The {Stamps} of Life.  I added a little sentiment/caption - and TA DAHHHH!!!! A Polaroid!

I had to do a little fancy work with these two boys, because I rearranged their arms, and drew the hand on.  The boy is from this month's regular release at TSOL, called Kids2Love, and some of the hair and accessories are from the Extras4Kids, this month's special release set.

Once I spent all that time on the Polaroid, I was worried that I wouldn't know what to do with it.  But I kept the card super simple, to keep the focus on the image.  Just a fun little strip of Echo Park paper, and a few tiny buttons.

I hope you like it, and I hope you have had THE best weekend!!!!! I am excited to spend the first week of summer vacation with  Mr. B, my first-grader to be!

i scream, you scream. . .

I have sooo not felt like blogging lately!  But these ice cream cones are too cute to NOT share, so I will press on and blog for YOU!  These stamps are from the May release at The {Stamps} of Life!  There are two coordinating ice cream stamp sets this month, that are just adorable! 

I used Echo Park paper on this first card, and paper-pieced it.  I really like the way the twine ended up, wrapped around the ice cream cone.  I kept playing with it - I knew i HAD to have twine and a button SOMEWHERE, and I think it totally worked! :)

 This second card features a few different sets from TSOL, and I just LOVE clean and simple.  I spend a lot of time looking at the cards of designers I love, and I am always drawn to a clean and simple card, with lots of white - and a great big BOW at the top!  That's how we grow - by studying the work of people we admire!

I submitted a WAY lot of cards for the latest Paper Crafts call, so I will be keeping my fingers crossed this week, (along with some of you, I'm sure!) and hoping to get a happy little email from the magazine!

And now, in my last few fleeting minutes of naptime, I'm going to go do something OTHER than sit at the computer!!! I cleaned the garage out, (the weather is AMAZING, and freakishly cool today!) and then I ate a bagel while sitting here chatting with you - and now I better get ready before my little monkey wakes up and wants food and trains! I think I might surprise B when we pick him up from school, and we'll stop at the playground on the way home - seriously, this weather is AMAZING, and it's a total fluke.  Back to HOT tomorrow I think!

Vrooooom. . . .

One of Tanner's favorite words is VROOM.  He is OBSESSED with the garbage truck.  Loves seeing planes fly overhead, and just really likes vehicles in general! So I'm pretty sure he would LOVE these stamps, if I let him anywhere near them!

I paired the new stamp set with the labels2use set, on both of these cards.  (Have I mentioned how well all of Stephanie's stamps work TOGETHER? tee hee!)

And I just ADORE the way my little hippie chick car came out! I almost couldn't send it to Stephanie when she asked for it!  (You can see both of these cards on Steph's cute video, introducing the stamp sets!)

I used Discount Cardstock's cardstock on both cards plus Echo Park paper on both of these cards.  The top one is from the Little Boy collection, and the bottom one is from Life Is Good.  

Life IS good, isn't it?  I went to the grocery today, and spent about $18, and saved $30.  That is pretty good! Although the coupon policy at my store seems to be changing. . .as it's about to at all the Publix Supermarkets - and I must say, I never thought I'd be so wrapped up in a coupon policy!!!!  I'm anxious to see the changes, and not too thrilled that they won't take drugstore coupons anymore. (Those $10 of CVS Extra Bucks I hoped to use today, are burning a hole in my pocket!)  I do understand though, and I'm hoping that all the CRAZY couponers, and the TLC Extreme Couponers show isn't going to spoil it for all of us!!!!

Okay - onward to train track building with the little one, a diaper change, lunch, laundry, some card photos which need to be taken, a dishwasher which needs to be emptied, and whatever else comes my way! Have a wonderful Wednesday!!! :)
